Even though the open enrollment period is over, you may be eligible to get covered for 2022 through Covered California! If you experienced a qualifying life event such as: losing your existing health coverage, having a baby or moving within or to California, you may be able to enroll in quality health insurance coverage through Covered California during special enrollment. For most qualifying life events, you have 60 days from the date of your event to enroll in a health plan. At Covered California you can choose from a variety of health plans from private brand-name health insurance companies such as Kaiser, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield and more.
Plus, 9 out of 10 members get financial help and two-thirds of members have a health plan that has a monthly cost of $10 or less! But it’s only available through Covered California. The amount of financial help you may receive depends on where you live (zip code), your income, the size of your family and your age. With health insurance through Covered California, you’ll have annual limits on how much you must pay for health care. Remember: For most qualifying life events, you have 60 days from the date of your qualifying life event to apply for a health plan. In the State of California, having health insurance for the entire year is the law. If you don’t have it, you may have to pay a penalty, unless you qualify for an exemption.
