Your health plan does more than cover you when you’re sick – it includes FREE preventive care to help you and your family live a long, healthy life. Put your health first! Schedule your FREE wellness exam today and ask your doctor what health screenings are recommended based on your situation.
When you do need care, rest assured that your plan covers 10 essential health benefits such as prescription drugs, hospitalization (like surgery and overnight stays), urgent and emergency care.
Urgent and Emergency Care
Even if you have traveled outside of your plan’s service area, you have access to urgent and emergency care.
Know where to go for care?
There are some big differences between visits to your primary care doctor and visits to the emergency room, such as cost, time spent waiting for care and follow up.
In an emergency, you should call 9-1-1 or get care from the hospital closest to you. It is considered an emergency if waiting to get care could be dangerous to your health.
Urgent care is for when your condition is not life-threatening but you need care within 24 to 48 hours.
Primary care is preferred when it’s not an emergency.
Not sure what kind of care you need?
Call your primary care doctor or the number on your membership ID card to inform them of your condition and ask what you should do. Your plan has licensed health care professionals available to assist you by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Contact your insurance company, primary care doctor, or refer to your plan’s Evidence of Coverage to find out where you can go for urgent care while in your plan’s service area.
Refer to your Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) for your share of costs for urgent and emergency care.
Always keep your membership ID card with you.
Did you know that your plan also covers the following preventive services for children at no additional cost to you?
Vision Care
Your plan covers free eye exams for children – and if your child needs glasses, they are eligible to receive one free pair of glasses (or contact lenses) per year.
Dental Check-ups
Children’s preventive and diagnostic dental services are included in your plan. This means that your child’s exam and up to two cleanings per year won’t cost you extra.
Contact your insurance company or refer to your plan documents to learn what pediatric vision and dental providers you have access to under your plan.
Find a pediatric dental and vision provider that is close to where you live or work to allow for reasonable access to care.
